Postcard Pals with a Brusho Background

PicsArt_07-27-04.11.09[1]

I don't know what it is about this little guy but I just think he is so cute.  I tend to lean towards floral designs or more sophisticated images, but this whimsical stamp set, Postcard Pals, is endearing.  Check out the nice words and phrases.

Postcard Pals

In my card sample, I used Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pens to color  the little critter.  Did you know Stampin' Up! now has Two different sets of watercolor pencils?  Check out Assortment 2 that is now available.

Assortment 2 is $12.50.  It includes 10 pencils in Stampin' Up! colors: Balmy Blue, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Night of Navy

The original set of pencils is $16.00 and includes 13 pencils in Stampin’ Up! colors: Basic Black, Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White

Do you like my background?  I used watercolor paper and Brusho.  Just a little sprinkle of PrussianBlue Brusho crystals and a spritz of water gives an interesting background.

Last of Healing Hugs in Mango Melody

Mango Melody!  What a happy and cheery color.  I think its a refreshing, bright and a welcome additional to the Stampin' Up! colors.

Here is my final card using the Healing Hugs Distinktive stamp set.  Be sure to check out my past posts to see other examples and a 3D project.

To help give the flower more dimension, I inked it up in Mango Melody, added Pumpkin Pie to the edges using a sponge dauber and a bit of Crushed Curry to the middle.

Adding texture to the background, a piece of Whisper White card stock was embossed used the Lovely Floral Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder. The flowers were popped with Stampin' Dimensionals and the leaves were stamped on scrap Whisper White, hand cut then tucked behind the flowers.  A little bit of the new Gold Cording to add a little shine!

I hope you enjoyed my week of Healing Hugs and hope you come back soon to see more projects I have been working on.

Who Doesn't Love Coastal Cabana

PicsArt_07-29-02.48.55[1]

This is the next card sample in my Healing Hugs series.  This Distinktive stamp set is so beautiful with its picture like detail.  Feature color is Coastal Cabana, just a lovely blue.  I could use this color for everything, including Christmas cards.  I love a blue and white Christmas card.

The rose and three sets of leaves were all fussy cut.  The Rose was then adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals

I think what I love the second most of this card is the background!  The New background set called "Gallery Grunge" is awesome!  Make sure to check it out.  Its stamped in Smoky Slate three times, slightly altering height position each time.  Doesn't it look like plank flooring?  I cannot wait to use this one more.

I keep forgetting to post the insides of my projects because I do not tape them in until I write in them.  So don't mind the it looks off... its just not adhered to the card.  The flower was inked in Coastal Cabana ink, stamped quickly on scrap paper first and then onto my inside piece of Whisper White.  Don't forget to use the mask technique when adding the leaves!

My last Healing Hugs card is coming soon!  I think it is my favorite of the series so be sure to come back.

Here is my next card example using the Healing Hugs Distinktive stamp set.  Did you miss my previous post on this?  Check it out Here and watch the video explaining what a Distinktive is and see my card and 3D project, both featuring the new color Highland Heather.

The below card was done using Poppy Parade, a returning favorite color.

Here's the Twist!....  Ink up the flower stamp in Poppy Parade, take a sponge dauber, dip in Merry Merlot, and tap the dauber around the edge of the stamp.  You can add some Merry Merlot to the flower center too!  This adds dimension to the flower and was done on the two background flowers.

Hope you enjoyed this card in Poppy Parade.  More samples to come!

Healing Hugs in Highland Heather

You know, unfortunately, we all seem to need a sympathy card or a get well card.  And seeing as one of my favorite stamp sets retired a couple of months ago, I found this lovely replace set.  The images are so beautiful you can add any sentiment to customize for your occasion.  Click HEALING HUGS to check out all the images and words.

Did you know that the Healing Hugs is a Distinktive stamp?

What is a Dintinktive stamp you ask?  Check out this video Stampin' Up! posted.  It not only explains what these are, but provides great tips on inking and adding multiple colors to add detail and depth to your image.

Here are some projects I did using the new color, Highland Heather and the fabulous Copper Tins.  The tin can hold several 3x3 note cards or a favorite treat.

I used the masking technique here.  To do that, stamp the flower on scrap paper and cut out as close to the image as possible, leaving no border.  After I stamped the flower multiple times on my project piece of Whisper White card stock, I placed my mask over a flower, then stamped the leaves.  I just placed the mask over each flower and stamp as many leaves that I thought look good.  You can use this technique for each leaf in the stamp set, as you can see on the tin and 3x3 note card.

Accent with some Polka Dot Tulle ribbon and on the card, the sentiment was punched out with the Everyday Label punch.
