SAVI Sunday - Episode 37: 4 Ways To Use the Square Vellum Doilies
Welcome to this weeks SAVI Sunday video and projects featuring the Square Vellum Doilies from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. This beautiful doilies add just that elegant touch to a projects whether is it a simple designer or one with many layers. So, I am going to show you both! Be sure to watch my SAVI Sunday YouTube video linked below.
1.) Using the Square Vellum Doilies as they come...
The above card has a Misty Moonlight card base, a 4 x 5-1/4 layer of Whisper White, and a top layer of Misty Moonlight that is 3-3/4 x 5. It also features the So Sentimental Bundle full of great words and a fabulous collection of stitched label dies! The simplicity of this card is easy to replicate but it is so striking too. Don't forget to use Stampin' Dimensionals to add pop to the label.
The next card has the opposite color theme with a little bit of a twist!
2.) Adding color to the Square Vellum Doilies...
I used Thick Whisper White for my card base, a layer of Misty Moonlight measuring 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 and a top piece of Whisper White that is 4 x 5-1/4. Here I used my Sponge Brayer to color the doily to help make it stand out as a focal point. Again, I added the word label with Stampin' Dimensionals and also some rhinestones for bling.
Here is probably my favorite of all 4 projects!
3.) Don't be afraid to cut apart those doilies...
Using Basic Gray card stock for my base, I cut one doily in half and adhered both to the right side of the card. The doilies hung off the top and bottom so I simply used my Paper Snips to trim off the excess. The products featured on this card are all found in the Peony Garden Product Suite, one of my favorites found in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.
The piece of Peony Garden Designer Series Paper is cut to 2-1/2 x 5-1/2. I stamped the peony flower, colored with Old Olive and Petal Pink Stampin' Blends and die cut. It is adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals. Add some of the beautiful Gray Granite Shimmer Ribbon and a few Elegant Faceted Gems to make the card sparkle.
4.) Sponge mask with the doilies...
So remember back on Card # 2 where I sponged the doily to make it blue (Misty Moonlight)? Well, this is where this card originated from. I laid the doily on a piece of Whisper White card stock measuring 4 x 5-1/4 to sponge on the ink. When I removed the colored doily, I was left with a cool negative image and decide to use it as my background piece of this card.
The Silver Foil is die cut from the Ornate Layers Dies. You will need a piece of Silver Foil that is 3-1/2 x 5. The Whisper White piece is cut from the Rectangle Stitched die that has a final dimension of 1-3/4 x 3-1/8 so cut a piece of card stock slight larger or 2 x 3-1/4.
I have 3 bells die cut out of Real Red card stock and 3 mini bells from Silver Foil. I used a total of 6 larger pine sprigs and 6 smaller ones die cut from Shade Spruce card stock. All layered together with the center bells popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Here's my video to see how everything came together!
