Savi Sunday 60 - Embossing with Masks

SAVI Sunday (Stamping & Various Inspirations) 60:  Embossing With Masks

Today I have a great way for you to use our Basic Pattern Decorative Masks.  Normally, crafters think of masks just for sponging color through onto cardstock to have the pattern show through, but this is a fun way to expand your card making.

Let's take a look at today's project:

Stampwithlisabrownsavi60

First off.... I LOVE black-n-white cards, don't you?  I keep saying I am going to create a black-n-white series.  Leave me a comment if you would like to see that!

How To Do Easy Spotlight Card

SAVI Sunday 53 - How To Do Easy Spotlight Card

Welcome to Episode 53 of my YouTube Series... SAVI Sunday (stamping & various inspiration).  You can click the above link to watch my video or see it posted below.  Make sure you are subscribed to my channel while you are watching.

So my Spotlight card features the below items.  Two I know for sure will be retiring in a few short weeks; True Love Designer Series Paper and the Purple Posy Blends Combo Pack.  But I am in fear of a favorite die set going too... the Well Written Dies.  This die set has 24 dies!  14 of them are words like I am using below.  We will be finding out this week (March 24, 2021) what is retiring from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog so stay tuned.

Let's take a look at my card:

I love a black-n-white design but I think adding just a splash of color adds so much to it.

Card Details:

  • Basic Black card stock base 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored and folded at 4-1/4"
  • True Love DSP cut 4 x 5-1/4"
  • Die cut a square of the DSP any where you would like (just leave a bit for a boarder)
  • Color image with Blends
  • Take next larger square die and cut a piece of Basic Black CS
  • Adhere colored DSP square to above piece of black cardstock
  • Adhere square with Dimensionals
  • Die cut words from Well Written Dies (Make sure to use our Adhesive Sheets!)
  • Adhere to basic white, fussy dies around words & adhere to card front
  • Don't forget some Rhinestones for some bling

I told you this was an easy spotlight card.  Don't you agree?  And the True Love Designer Series Paper is just fantastic for this.

Don't forget, you can add as much, as little or No color at all and still end up with a beautiful card.

Black-n-White Peony

Hi there... thanks for stopping by.  I have a surprise combination for you with this card project.

In the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog (aka... holiday catalog as I call it), there is a great product suite called Magic In this Night. You should click on that title and check it out, especially if you love Halloween!  Super cool stuff in that suite.

For me though, my eyes went right to the Magic in This Night Designer Series Paper (DSP).  I could see right past the Halloween themes and saw the really pretty black-n-white flowers, stripes, and ornate designs.  So that is what I choose as my background paper.  I love how this card came out!

  • Die cut the 4 Peony Dies from Whisper White CS

Black-n-White

I love black and white cards.  And this one is so simple and elegant.  If you have not seen the Detailed Bands Dies yet, check them out by clicking on the link or look below in the list of products I used to make this card.  The Detailed Bands Dies is one of my most favorite die sets in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog!

Images and words (minus the Happy Birthday) are from a lovely set called Very Versailles. This set is right up my alley... Now the branches of leaves may look like they are not inked well, but they are.  The image is one of Stampin' Up! DistINKtive stamps; stamps made a special way to give a realistic look.  I can't wait to try with other ink colors.

The Happy Birthday is from the stamp set called Here's a Card.  If you are looking for a "word" stamp set, this may the one you should order

I have to laugh at myself with the inside of the card.  Can you see why?

As I always say in my classes.... well, it IS handmade!

I do want to give credit as I CASED (copy and share everything) this project from a card swap I participated in.  Joanna Jones, fellow demonstrator from Oklahoma, made the below card. My sample, I changed the sentiment and added rhinestones and an inside.  Her card is so pretty so I had to share.
