Birds and Magnolias

Can you believe summer is winding down and kids are heading back to school already?  I went to Target this week and school supplies, backpacks, sales, and general buzz was all over the store.  My niece and nephew are heading back real soon and I don't know who is more relieved?  My brother and sister-in-law, the kids to be able to see their friends or Mammy (SIL's mom); who watches them along with my two other nieces that are are 3 and 20 months.  Mammy has her hands full!

Here is a lovely card using the Free As A Bird Bundle and Magnolia Lane Designer Series paper.  Combining products from different suites gives extra ideas.  So the Magnolia Lane paper can be used with more than the magnolia set.  Just coordinate the colors!

Here's my video for this card...

I hardly ever use our standard Whisper White card stock as a card base.  So when I do, I like to double layer the inside of the card to add some weight to it.  Do you do the same?  What do you do on the insides of your cards?

Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards & Tin

Elegant and beautiful... those are the first two words that come to my mind when I see the Bird Ballad suite.  Click to see entire suite.

Today I want to highlight the Laser-Cut Card and Tins.  Above is the Tin decorated with die cuts and stamped images from the Bird Ballad product suite.

Here is what the Tin and Laser-Cut cards look like out of the box.  The tin of 12 cards and 12 envelopes can be purchased separately.  Notice the scallop detail on the envelopes!

The cards are standard A2 size (5-1/2 x 4-1/4 folded).  The top layer is a beautiful, elegant, laser-cut image; delicate but sturdy.  Below, is a card sample my class did with a piece of Petal Pink card stock behind the laser-cut measuring 5-1/5 x 4-1/4.  Note:  I did need to slightly under-cut the 4-1/4 side of Petal Pink to accommodate the cards fold.

You can purchase the Free As A Bird Bundle which includes just the Bird Ballad stamp set and the Stitched Nested Label dies.  In my card, I used the Label Die measuring 1-3/4 x 3-1/4 and simply cut off the right side point.  I used the Butterfly Wishes stamp set for the butterflies, words, and branch image.  The Butterfly Wishes coordinates with the Butterfly Builder Punch.

I cannot wait to show you some projects using the Bird Ballad stamp set, so be sure to sign up for my blog updates to receive notifications!

Here are the supplies I used to make my card:
