Patchwork Cards using Patchwork Pieces Dies

How fun is this!

Easy patchwork card designs with our new Patchwork Pieces Dies.  And the starburst (as I'm calling it) is so fitting with the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper

I cut two pieces of DSP to 3-3/4 x 5-1/4.  I did a dark pattern and a light pattern, alternating the pieces, making the patchwork design.  This will give you pieces to start two cards.

Let's take a look....

  • Card Bases are Night of Navy 5-1/2 x 8-1/2
  • Bottom mats are Basic White CS 3-3/4 x 5-1/4
    • PAPER SAVING TIP
      • card 1:  stamp & die cut daisy & leaves from this white piece
      • card 2:  punch your scallop oval & oval from this white piece
  • Next layer is Balmy Blue CS 3-1/2 x 4-15/16
    • this is the layer the patchwork pieces are adhered to
    • I chose this size to leave about a 1/16" space as a border and between the pieces.

HINT:  when adhering the patchwork pieces.... use Liquid Glue and START with the corners pieces!  It makes it so much easier to line up.

We BEE Stamping TEAM Blog Hop - Creative Backgrounds

BeeBlogHopOpeningIcon

Thank you for joining our team blog hop.  This month we are featuring creative backgrounds, which I'm very excited about.  I have not done a creative background in awhile, so it was nice to think outside the box for a minute.

Now the card itself is very simple, but that is because I did not want to take away from the beauty of the background.  I hope you like it.  Also, I have not used Watercolor Paper in a long time, nor the Gilded Leafing flakes.

#stampwithlisabrown #watercolor #gold #marble

(I just had to show you how reflective and shiny the gilded leafing flakes really are)

  • My ink colors are Fresh Freesia, Soft Sea Foam and Flirty Flamingo.
  • I fully saturated my watercolor paper with water in my spritzer, put several drops of reinker of each color, and spritzed more water.
  • Keep a paper towel handy to catch pooling and run off water.
  • You can quickly dry with the heat tool.

Using Multipurpose liquid glue, I drew lines all over and then covered with the gilded leafing flakes.  Its a bit messy but I always love how projects shine.  I covered the Happy Birthday and Stars dies with glue and flakes too as I wanted everything in gold to match.

Hint:  My Embossing Additions Tool Kit was a huge help in keeping the mess of the flakes to a minimum!  Tweezers to hold my dies cut down, brush to scrub away the extra flakes and a tray to catch (almost) all of it in.
