We BEE Stamping TEAM Blog Hop - Designer Series Paper

BeeBlogHopOpeningIcon

Welcome to this month's blog hop featuring Designer Series Paper (DSP).  If you are not familiar with the Stampin' Up! term DSP, it is our 12x12" patterned paper.  All our paper coordinates with our colors and most times, with a stamp, punch or die cut set.  One of my favorite DSP stacks is a specialty DSP because of the foil on the images called Peaceful Place.  This paper is full of silver foil and is all black, white and gray.  Let's take a look at my card.

I have done this style card in the past and it a favorite to show off both sides of the designer series paper.  The DSP is what flips open which you will see in the second photo below.

It is hard to capture the foil on the trees so here is another angle.  The trees are die cut from a sheet of the Peaceful Place specialty DSP that is a dark gray (basic gray) and has silver and white splotches all over it.  When I die cut the tress, I think it makes it look like they have snow on them.

Card Details:

  • Card base is a piece of Basic White 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
  • Layer a piece of Basic Black that is 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 on top of Basic White
  • DSP is 4 x 10-1/2 then scored at 5-1/4
    • Tip:  I cut a 4 x 12 piece of DSP, folded it in half then cut that folded piece to 4 x 5-1/4"
    • Tip:  watch the direction of the inside (opposite side) pattern
    • fold on score and adhere on top of Basic Black
    • stamp greeting
    • adhere a couple of sequins
  • For the inside, cut a piece Basic White to 3-3/4 x 5
    • Stamp your sentiment in Memento Black a little towards the top
    • Cut strip of DSP 1 x 3-3/4 and adhere to bottom on white
    • Die cut 3 trees from Cabin Dies and add

I think the last step adds so much to the inside.  I love adding an element like that, where you die cut Designer Series Paper for extra detail to the cut images.  My full list of supplies are below for easy reference and shopping.

Well, I hope you like my card project and you will join us for our next Blog Hop on December 1, 2021.

How To Do Easy Spotlight Card

SAVI Sunday 53 - How To Do Easy Spotlight Card

Welcome to Episode 53 of my YouTube Series... SAVI Sunday (stamping & various inspiration).  You can click the above link to watch my video or see it posted below.  Make sure you are subscribed to my channel while you are watching.

So my Spotlight card features the below items.  Two I know for sure will be retiring in a few short weeks; True Love Designer Series Paper and the Purple Posy Blends Combo Pack.  But I am in fear of a favorite die set going too... the Well Written Dies.  This die set has 24 dies!  14 of them are words like I am using below.  We will be finding out this week (March 24, 2021) what is retiring from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog so stay tuned.

PicsArt_03-21-02.15.35

Let's take a look at my card:

PicsArt_03-21-02.17.53

I love a black-n-white design but I think adding just a splash of color adds so much to it.

Card Details:

  • Basic Black card stock base 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored and folded at 4-1/4"
  • True Love DSP cut 4 x 5-1/4"
  • Die cut a square of the DSP any where you would like (just leave a bit for a boarder)
  • Color image with Blends
  • Take next larger square die and cut a piece of Basic Black CS
  • Adhere colored DSP square to above piece of black cardstock
  • Adhere square with Dimensionals
  • Die cut words from Well Written Dies (Make sure to use our Adhesive Sheets!)
  • Adhere to basic white, fussy dies around words & adhere to card front
  • Don't forget some Rhinestones for some bling

I told you this was an easy spotlight card.  Don't you agree?  And the True Love Designer Series Paper is just fantastic for this.

Don't forget, you can add as much, as little or No color at all and still end up with a beautiful card.
