Home to Roost

PicsArt_01-17-03.16.16[1]

Isn't he handsome?  I love this little rooster.  He comes in the Home to Roost Sale-a-Bration (SAB) set the you can earn for FREE with a $50 product purchase.

The rooster is stamped on a 3 x 3" wood grain square from the Wood Textures Paper Stack.  I sponged some Balmy Blue across the top.  The weed grass is stamped in Old Olive but you can for sure use Tranquil Tide!  He is colored with Watercolor Pencils and smoothed out a bit with Blender Pens.  Then mat with a 3-1/4 x 3-1/4" square of Very Vanilla card stock.  Make sure to stick the square piece onto the Corrugated Tranquil Tide paper with Dimensionals.

The basic supply list for this card totals $52.00 in product, earning you the stamp set for free:

  • Tranquil Tide card stock
  • Memento ink pad
  • Tranquil Tide ruffled ribbon
  • Corrugated Embossing Folder
  • Watercolor Pencils
  • Sponges

To fully duplicate my card, add these items to the above.  Order will total $103.75 in product and you will earn 2 SAB $50 level items or one (1) $100 level SAB item for Free:

  • Very Vanilla card stock
  • Wood Textures paper
  • Balmy Blue ink
  • Old Olive ink or Tranquil Tide

Here is the complete supply list with pictures.  I think it is easier to visually see all you are getting.

Snow and Foiled Butterflies

Well, Mother Nature has finally figured out that it is winter.  A bit of snow last week and with cold temperatures, so it is staying on the ground.  The forecast is for a snowy weekend too!  This might be a repeat for my dad......

PicsArt_01-17-12.04.23[1]

Ha!  Ha!  My dad is so good to me :)   But, YES!  I can run that machine myself.  5 gears and 2 reverses... and an electric starter.  Funny, I believe this picture was taken last winter on a morning that I had Card Club... hmmmm, I have club this weekend but he is in Florida.  Something wrong with this scenario.

Any way, today I wanted to share this beautiful butterfly card.  Stampin' Up! has come out with some incredible new butterfly stamps, dies, punches and paper in the 2019 Occasions catalog and Sale-a-Bration catalog.

PicsArt_01-10-01.01.31[1]

These butterfly thinlit dies are available in a new bundle called Beauty Bounds.  There are 20 dies and 13 stamps and qualifies for a Free Sale-a-Bration item. As in my card sample, I chose the Grapefruit Grove/Lovely Lipstick Foil paper for my free Sale-a-Bration item.  This paper will make you wish you had more!

I will definitely be showing more samples made with this bundle because there is so much you can do.  A cool thing is there are multiples  of the same dies so you can cut several small butterflies at once.  A real time saver.

Here is my supply list for the card.  I hope you like this one and are able to get this bundle today.

Emboss Resist Technique

I had another fun card challenge put before me, so I accepted.  Although the theme was using Abstract Impressions, (I am in the New Occasions and Sale-a-Bration mode...),  I decided to join in.

Besides a specific stamp set, my other challenge was to use the colors of Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, and So Saffron. What a great combination!

PicsArt_01-09-12.47.12[1]

So Saffron Card Base is cut 11" x 4-1/4" then scored at 5-1/2

Granny Apple Green mat is 5-5/16" x 4-1/16"

Whisper White is 5-1/4" x 4"

Using the largest flower stamp and VersaMark ink, randomly stamp around the edges of the Whisper White.  Cover VersaMark with Clear Embossing Powder (you could use White powder too),  and then heat emboss.

Next, using a Sponge Dauber with Melon Mambo ink, I rubbed over the floral images.  Next, take a baby wipe or slightly damp paper towel and wipe off the excess ink from the clear embossed flowers.  Water-based ink does not dry well over embossing powder so you need to wipe it off.

Stamp a few leaves, a word or two.... and you have created the background of your card.

Die Cut two (2) butterflies from the Springtime Impressions Thinlits (bundled with Abstract Impressions).  The bottom butterfly, I again used sponge daubers to add Melon Mambo, So Saffron and Granny Apple Green ink.  Lay the plain white butterfly over top, flex their wings and add some Rhinestones.

Oh!  My Strips of paper for added interest:   whisper white 1/2" x 4"    and So Saffron 3/4" x 4"

Hope you enjoyed!  Let me know if you would like to see a video on this.   Leave me a comment.
